Worldwide market potential

Rapid growth of blockchain technology: The global blockchain market is expected to reach $42.8 billion by 2025, with a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 64.3%. This surge in adoption will necessitate user-friendly interfaces to onboard new users and drive mainstream adoption.
Emerging applications beyond finance: While currently associated with finance (e.g., cryptocurrencies), blockchain is finding applications in various sectors like supply chain management, healthcare, and voting systems. This diversification will further increase the need for good UX design.
3. UX Hurdles For Blockchain In 2024
Making blockchain applications easily understandable for my grandma remains a challenge, and here's why it hasn't been achieved yet.
Limited User-Friendly Design: Many blockchain applications suffer from a lack of intuitive and user-friendly interfaces. Complex jargon, unfamiliar workflows, and a steep learning curve can deter users who are not well-versed in blockchain technology. Improving the overall design to be more user-centric and familiar can enhance the adoption rate.
Inconsistencies Across Platforms: The user experience can vary significantly across different blockchain platforms and applications. Inconsistencies in design, navigation, and terminology make it challenging for users to seamlessly transition between different blockchain projects. Standardizing certain aspects of the user interface could enhance overall usability and familiarity.
Insufficient Error Handling and Feedback: Blockchain transactions involve various technical elements, and errors may occur. Unfortunately, many blockchain interfaces provide insufficient error handling and feedback, leading to user confusion when issues arise. Clear and informative error messages, as well as guidance on how to resolve problems, are crucial for a positive user experience.
Slow Transaction Confirmation: The confirmation time for blockchain transactions can be slow, particularly during periods of network congestion. Users accustomed to real-time transactions may find delays frustrating. Improving transaction speed or providing better communication about expected confirmation times can enhance user satisfaction.
Privacy and Security Concerns: While blockchain is inherently secure, users may still have concerns about privacy. The transparent nature of blockchain transactions and addresses may conflict with users' expectations of confidentiality. Striking a balance between transparency and user privacy through improved privacy features without compromising security is a challenge for blockchain UX/UI design.
